Leslie + Scott Wedding

How quaint of an idea would it be to have your wedding at a bed and breakfast?

Leslie and Scott, who are from western Kansas, recited their vows to a small group of family and friends. Their wedding took place Saturday, May 24 at the Southmoreland on the Plaza bed and breakfast. I've photographed a wedding here before a couple of years ago. Strange enough, the wedding took place on the fourth weekend of May. Would you believe it rained that same day? Because it rained this past Saturday, the inn keepers had to re-adjust their plans to have the wedding inside. After the ceremony, the sun popped out of the clouds and illuminated the yellow and blue color scheme.

Congratulations Leslie and Scott!

Kevin and Melissa Pregnancy

Meet the Browns! Kevin and Melissa are expecting their first child in about two weeks. I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding about three years ago and felt it a huge honor that they would want me to take their pregnancy photos.

Since I have met Kevin and Melissa, we have been very good friends much of which he has kept me very busy at their church. God is good! I have all the faith and belief to know that they will be loving parents who will raise their child in the admonition of the Lord.

Eunice + Casey Engagement

Up close and personal with a Harley. This e-session was just a bit different for me. Eunice and Casey wanted to take pictures with their Harley Davidson cruiser. So we scheduled their session at Longview Lake. Let's just say that I didn't know motorcycles cost that much, let alone the full leather gear.

One day I'll get the nerve to get on a bike. Yeah....one long, long, long day from now.

Natalie + Ted Engagement

Natalie, a petite, petite young lady plans to marry her soul-mate Ted in October of this year. We scheduled their e-session on the Plaza and had a lot of fun. Their e-session was suppose to happen several weeks ago but because of mother nature, Natalie wanted her outdoor photos perfect. Indeed it was - this past Sunday or the entire weekend couldn't have been better! In the below photo, Natalie's son, Christopher watches while Ted lands a big one on her in front of the Halls building.

I met Natalie during a wedding reception at The Loretto. Her mother was actually the wedding coordinator. The story gets deeper, I actually know one of her brothers as well. Their family is very down to earth and will welcome anyone with open arms. I have a feeling that this wedding will fun!

Natalie and Ted's wedding will take place at Trinity Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS. Keep watching our BLOG for their wedding photos.

Kim + Greg Engagement

I wanted Kim and Greg's engagement session to symbolize a "picnic in the park". Actually their e-session took place at Kauffman Memorial Gardens - very popular location for engagement and bridal portraits. The clouds were puffy and white and the sky was blue. As warm and breezy as it was Saturday, we all could have all brought a blanket, hammock and a bottle of bubbly to bask in the freshly cut grass.

Kim and Greg will walk down the aisle early October 2008. Stay tuned for her upcoming wedding images.

Fairfax Learning Center Class of 2008

Every year I have an opportunity to participate in Fairfax Learning Center's Commencement Ceremony. This year's graduation ceremony took place Thursday evening at FL Schlagle High School, home of renowned Olympic sprinter, Maurice Greene. Twenty high school seniors, dressed in blue robes, were afforded the pleasure of moving their 2008 tassels to the left of their caps.

Before the ceremony started and while waiting to take their senior class photo, Susan Engelmann, Executive Director of High School Instruction and Curriculum, asked a few of the students what were their plans after graduation. Some of the students have been accepted in some of the local colleges and have their hearts set on pursuing nursing, mortuary science, and accountant careers. WOW! It hasn't been that long since I too walked the stage (1988-High School) and (1992-Undergrad).

This year's commencement theme was "The Measure of One's Success".

Ms. Gloria Johnson, principal; Peggy Sue Garner; Shari Albrecht; Peyton Leslie; Craig Williamson; Gail Anderson; and Dave Oland are doing a wonderful job in making an impact on the lives of these teenagers. JOB WELL DONE!

See you next year. ◦

Lindsay + Jason Wedding

Saturday, May 10 started out a very gray day with the expectation of rain. It rained! There are some brides that get scared that rain may damper their blissful day. However, I've been told that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck. Is that true? I don't know. It rained the morning before my wedding day and all is well.

Lindsay and Jason broke all superstitions and agreed to see each other before the wedding - which seems to be the trend now. We opted to do all the pictures before the ceremony so that there will be a smooth transition to the reception. Lindsay, a fun but beautiful bride had one of the longest gowns I've photographed this year. Jason, a profound masculine young man, had one of the firmest handshakes you'll run into. He reminds me of my good friend Kendall. You would know both of them were strong men and who played football in college.

I've photographed at St. John UMC several times and it's a BEAUTIFUL venue to have any wedding. The architecture is magnificent - not to mention the grounds. I love this place!

Nevertheless, here are the details:

Hope you enjoy the photos.
