2013 Cotillion at Westin Crown Center Hotel | Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

This past Saturday evening at the Westin Crown Center Hotel, I was afforded an opportunity to photograph the 2013 Cotillion sponsored by the Kansas City, MO Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Abstinence | Sheffield Family Life Center Purity Ceremony

It's been a few weeks and I know I'm a little late in posting a few photos from Sheffield Family Life Center's 2013 'Purity Ceremony' which focuses on abstinence. Several youth members and their parents from the church have made a pledge to God to help their children abstain from sex until they marry. Once they make the verbal pledge, they confirm it in writing and it's sealed in a blue bottle. Upon the day they marry, the individuals can open and share their bottle and committment with each other. Above and below are a few images from the ceremony.

Ninth Street Baptist Celebrates 150 Years | Historic Church in Lawrence, KS

My good friend and former pastor, Rev. Delmar A. White and his church, Ninth Street Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS celebrated 150 years of service. From what I learned, the church was erected in 1863 - WOW! The church congregation had week-long activities but on Saturday evening, the church participated in a formal banquet dinner at the Alvamar Country Club. The guest speaker for the evening was Dr. Vernon Howard, senior pastor of Second Baptist Church, KCMO. Sunday morning was their "climax service" where Dr. Jesse T. Williams, Jr., senior pastor of Convent Avenue Baptist Church, Harlem, NY.

Congratulations Ninth Street Baptist Church for your steadfast dedication.
