DST | Burning Sands Step Show

This is a post that is a long time coming. A few weeks ago, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Kansas City, MO Alumnae Chapter held their annual Burning Sands Step Show at the Scottish Rite Temple. Fraternities and sorority alumnae chapters across the Greater Kansas City area participated in this huge event. Over a thousand people came out to cheer for their favorite Greek organization. I’m just amazed at how creative, energetic and flexible these teams can be – just when you think you’ve seen it all. If you were not at this event, you missed the best one yet!
Teams that participated are:
  • Delta Sigma Theta Divas
  • Delta Sigma Theta Sophisticated
  • Phi Beta Sigma
  • Kappa Alpha Psi
  • Zeta Phi Beta-Upsilon Zeta Zeta
  • Alpha Phi Alpha-Omicron Xi Lambda
  • Omega Psi Phi Greater KC Metro Area
  • Delta Sigma Theta Sassy

Keep up the good work DST!

Radio personality, Sean Tyler, was the host of the step show.

Brandon + Shelley Maternity Session

Being afforded the pleasure of photographing a maternity session is one of those joys that makes me always appreciate the simple things in life. No matter what you are going through, the only thing that comes to mind is that this bundle of joy is going to come into this world, wanting love, desiring only your love and attention. OH MY! Brandon and Shelley are dear friends of mine who graced the studio this weekend for their second maternity session. Their first session occurred a couple of years ago with their son, Jackson. After Jackson was born, they scheduled a home session three days after he was born. One of the those photos have become one of our signature images in our gallery. Shelley is nearly due in a couple of weeks and the entire family can't wait. I wish you all a blessed child birth.

These are some of my favorites. Brandon and Shelley, these are only a few; there is more to come.

Courtney Senior Session

Kansas City...you gotta meet one of the hottest young ladies in the area. Meet Miss Courtney. She's my neighbor and and she wanted me to take her 2011 senior pictures. Two years ago I took her brother, Dustin, senior pics. Courtney was easy to photograph; she has a gorgeous smile and a wonderful personality. Everything came easy for her. You can tell a lot by a persons eyes and her blue eyes will steal any heart. Courtney has big career dreams and I have no doubt that she will achieve all of her goals. Congratulations Courtney and I wish you the best.

Tyisha + Brian Engagement

These love birds couldn't keep their hands off each other. And I loved it! Tyisha and Brian is a lovely couple who met with me a few months back and they told me that they just had to have me as their photographer. During their e-session, Tyisha had a way of dazzling the camera. I asked Brian if her eyes is what stole his heart. He quickly answered, YES. Both will be committing their lives to each other in May 2011.

Sara + James | Oct. 23 Fall Lake View Wedding

I hate to say this but this was our last wedding of 2010, such a bitter sweet. There are more upcoming events to shout about in the near future but I won’t take this time to discuss.

Nevertheless, you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to get married. The day started out sunny, then gray, a few sputters of rain but nothing to hinder the wedding ceremony of Sara and James at Lake of the Forest. I’ve known Sara’s mother for about two years and was humbly honored that she would call upon me to photograph Sara’s wedding. I must digress a year back because I did photograph Sara’s younger sister, Meghan, senior pictures. So maybe that had something to do with her reaching out to me (so cool). The Fall foliage and the lake view made this a dream wedding come true. The rich November Fall colors (brown, gold, yellows) made the outdoor images pop. Both were great to work with and exerted lots of energy. Your wedding was the bomb!

Below are some of my favorite images.
