Larry Lester Executive Portraits | African American Baseball Historian
Larry Lester is a man you need to know and must
get to know. I was fortunate to meet him through other social events here in
Kansas City but more profoundly, he reached out to me to have some promotional
photos taken for his website.
Larry Lester was one of the founders of the Negro
Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri, and served as
its Research Directorand Treasurer for five years
(1991-1995). He was instrumental in the development of the
Museum's business plan, and its Incorporation in 1990. Along with attorney
Thomas Busch, he was the driving force in its licensing program that generated
$1.4 million in the start-up years. With only black & white photographs in
existence, his research of archival newspapers along with interviews of former
players, Lester discovered the authentic colors & designs, allowing apparel
manufacturers to reproduce retro-vintage caps, jerseys, and jackets from black
baseball's heyday.

Tara Frank's Portraits by Royal Photography, LLC
I've know Tara for a few years and she called me to help her with a special project by taking her professional portraits. I can't say exactly what she will be announcing - just trust me when I say - it's BIG! I'm just thrilled that she asked me to take her portraits. Watch out now!!!!

Royal Photography | Archive Hall of Fame

I woke up this morning with the idea of digging out of my archive several "famous" folk that I have met and photographed over the years. At the moment I was only able to pull out a few images from 2004, 2006 and 2007. I was afforded all of these images and opportunities from the Missouri State Post and Kansas State Globe newspapers. I was their official photographer and often traveled to document several special events. The majority were from various St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation weekend activities; if I recall, I photographed that event every year for 10 years.
Stay tuned, as I will be posting more images from my Archive Hall Of Fame in the coming months.
In 2007 I had the pleasure of photographing Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Debbye Turner, Miss America 1990 at the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation Lifetime Achievement Awards dinner.

Tausha | Impromptu photo session
This past weekend was extremly busy for me - exhausting is a better word for it. Let me break it down for you...
- Photographed a high school prom Friday night
- Attended a college graduation Saturday morning
- Photographed a couple of high school seniors Saturday afternoon just before they headed to their prom (photos to come very soon)
- Engagement session on The Plaza, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and Coldstone Creamery
- Photographed a 40th Bday celebration Saturday evening (I can't post those images online but I'm sure you can understand why) LOL...
- Took my wife and kids out for breakfast Sunday morning (Mother's Day)
- Purchased and planted some flowers in the yard
- Dinner with my mother and extended family
- Back to editing more wedding photos
Needless to say, the reason why I'm posting this photo is because sometimes I need to step away from being glued to my monitor and find time for some studio imagery. Most importantly, I purchased a new background and this was the perfect time to schedule a studio photo session. My good friend, Tausha, needed some urgent headshots for personal/corporate reasons so Monday evening she stopped by and we knocked out a few images. Honestly, I love this background and displays beautifully on her skin tone. Now, I can't wait to use it more on future clients :)
Now back to the wedding images.
