New Addition to the Jones Family

Meet the newest addition to the Jones family. Little Miss Dawsonne is cute as a new bud rose. Photographing babies always reminds me how powerful God is. Life is way too precious to take for granted and holding such a small wonder humbles me in knowing what responsibility we are given in raising children. Dawsonne's mother is a good friend of someone who I grew up with in church and I also found out that she is a dear friend of one of my personal friends. Talk about six degrees of separation.

Anne + Trey Engagement

Wanna hear something funny?

I felt like I was going on a blind date when we scheduled Anne and Trey's engagement session. Both are not residents of Kansas City (they used to be) and now live further East. We literally have communicated by email from the first inception. I met Anne's mother a couple of months back on behalf of Anne and Trey. Her mother told me that her daughter found me in one of the national magazines I advertise in and after viewing our work online, she was sold on us photographing their wedding. So when we met on The Plaza for their e-session, I had no idea on what they would look like. They had an advantage over me because they knew what I looked like from my website. Trey spotted me out and the conversation flowed as if we already knew each other. We even share a common background. Anne came shortly after and it was the same experience. Both are beautiful people and have strong characteristics.

Their wedding will take place here in Kansas City early-July 2010.

DST Burning Sands Step Show

This past Saturday the alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority held their 14 annual Burning Sands Alumnae Step Show at the Scottish Rite Temple, mid-town Kansas City. Over 1,000 people gathered to see alumnae Greek organizations such as Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Alpha Phi Alpha and Omega Psi Phi stomp the yard as they did in their undergraduate years. This is DST Kansas City Alumnae chapter's annual fundraiser.

My personal favorites of the evening were the Delta's, Alpha's and Omega's.

Concord Fortress of Hope 'Vision Sunday'

Most of you know that my family is a member of Concord Fortress of Hope church where Rev. Ronald Lindsay is the senior pastor. Sunday morning, the church held their "Vision Sunday" service. The morning service was filled with singing, praise dancing, testimonial narratives, video presentations and sermon from Rev. Lindsay. The primary purpose of the services was to provide an opportunity for the members to learn about all the active ministries in the church, learn about the rich heritage of how Concord Fortress of Hope got started, and learn about the vision that God has given Rev. Lindsay in leading the church in kingdom building. Most importantly, it gave an opportunity for church members and families who are not active in any ministry to choose a ministry that compliments their interests and will encourage their spirit to become leaders in their community.

God has given Rev. Lindsay a marvelous vision that will involve everyone in the church. If you are looking for a church home, looking to be apart of a church who is making an impact in the community, eager to learn about God's word outside of the traditional spectrum, looking to be apart of a vast growing young adult church, and looking to be filled with the Holy Spirit...Concord Fortress of Hope is the church for you. The church has two services 8 am and 10 am; stop on by and introduce yourself to Rev. Lindsay.
