Ninth Street Baptist Celebrates 150 Years | Historic Church in Lawrence, KS

My good friend and former pastor, Rev. Delmar A. White and his church, Ninth Street Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS celebrated 150 years of service. From what I learned, the church was erected in 1863 - WOW! The church congregation had week-long activities but on Saturday evening, the church participated in a formal banquet dinner at the Alvamar Country Club. The guest speaker for the evening was Dr. Vernon Howard, senior pastor of Second Baptist Church, KCMO. Sunday morning was their "climax service" where Dr. Jesse T. Williams, Jr., senior pastor of Convent Avenue Baptist Church, Harlem, NY.

Congratulations Ninth Street Baptist Church for your steadfast dedication.

In the next several weeks, I will be photographing the Johnson County Jack and Jill, Inc. second annual Beautillion. This is a huge honor not only for me but for the seven young men above. These young men will be recognized for their academics and community service. All are competing for scholarships to their chosen college or university.
