Lil Patrick Turns 1

Oh my, how time flies.

Lil Patrick turned one-year old in March and his smile is so contagious. We schedule another "lifestyle" session one early Saturday morning. Lil Patrick was in his own domain and behaved wonderfully. From what I've been told, he looks identical to his father's baby photos. Congratulations Patrick and Tracy.

Ashley Senior photos

Ashley was a referral to us from our good friends Brandon and Shelley, who we've gone to love and respect. Ashley was a champ while we fought against the blustery winds last week during her senior photo session. Most seniors have special interest such as sports, cheerleading, music, forensics, etc... that they participate in. Ashley is a little different, she wanted her '97 Chevrolet green camero in her pictures. Can anyone top that?

Timeout | A Personal Moment

This is clearly a personal moment…

Business has been good thus far but the challenges of owning your own business can be tough. New products are constantly changing – forcing us to keep our portfolio fresh; always revamping our marketing/advertising platforms; remaining consistent through our service; continuing to build family oriented relationships; and reinforcing our brand. Often I need spiritual uplifting.

2010 continues to give us a profound appreciation for wedding and portrait photography. Daily there are more and more photography companies evolving – photographers of all sorts expressing themselves artistically. Because of this, everyday I am a witness to how God keeps me humble and grounded in the faith. Photography is the ONLY activity that brings me peace, tranquility and fulfillment. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t leave my home on a photography assignment that I pray that God allows me to step out of “self” and allows me to be His instrument in the art of photography. It’s part of my DNA to pray before arriving at any event, praying while I’m working, and solicit a prayer when I leave the event. I have been told by current / past customers that they enjoy watching me work because I get grossly involved in my craft. Often I talk to myself at weddings and get overly excited about inspired visions. Don’t laugh. All of this is because of God. Every opportunity is pristine to me and my clients will always know that they will get more than 110%. Royal Photography LLC wasn’t created for personal gain nor selfish measures but rather to be a instrumental path in documenting family new beginnings.

While typing this entry, I received an uplifting email today that coincidentally appeared in my inbox. I must share it:

Sam,
You have come so far. I can compare you now to when I first met you back in 2000 and you have truly morphed into an excellent photographer. Everything about you and your skill-sets have progressed. I can even see a change from when I was able to have a first-hand view of how you worked. Don't be discouraged where you are currently, this is the hallway to your next opened door. The only way to go right now is up and you are on your way. You'll soon look back and be amazed at how far you have gotten in your photography business.

The reason I’m writing this entry is to show what God is doing in my life, what I feel when doing His work, and be a witness to others across the globe.

Thank you my heavenly father for your grace and mercy. ◦

Brandize + Damon | March 13

A few days ago I mentioned in an earlier post that Damon and Brandize have their own unique story to tell. Well...

Brandize was a referral from a wedding I photographed a few years ago. Thanks Davoya!

When Brandize called me, her wedding was scheduled for March 6. Unfortunately, I was booked so would you believe she moved her wedding date to the following week for me? WOW, that warmed my heart and goes a long way with me.

As you will see, Damon had foot surgery a couple of weeks before the wedding and he was determined to walk down the aisle without his crutches. Being a U.S. Marine, he courageously endured the pain and stood at the alter patiently awaiting his bride. After the ceremony the Marines performed a sword detail and welcomed them to the Marine family as they exited the sanctuary. When they arrived at the reception (The Brio Tuscan Grill), Damon yells proudly, "I'm rich" as they walk in the ballroom. Both are very photogenic people and are deeply in love with each other - so much so that they couldn't keep their hands off each other.

Congratulations Brandize and Damon and thank you for allowing me to document incredible new beginnings in your lives.

Brandize + Damon | Teaser photo

I know I'm wrong for doing this but sometimes the excitement gets besides me.

Last week I photographed Brandize and Damon's wedding here in Kansas City. This couple has a story unlike no other. Check back in a few days and I will have some photos and info to share. In the mean time, enjoy.
