Concord Revival | Dr. Al. B. Sutton Jr. Delivers an Awesome Message

Tonight I attended my church's (Concord Fortress of Hope) Spring Revival. The guest speaker was Dr. Al B. Sutton, Jr., pastor of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL. This was the closing service to the revival and he preached to a Sunday morning packed church. His message taken from Hebrews 12: 1-3. The 45-min sermon spoke to all walks of life but the driving point in the message was that if we are going to run this race effectively, we need to let go of the baggage - the sinful stuff - the ungodly stuff that's holding us back from reaching the finish line. God never said that our race/walk here on earth would be easy but if we are obedient to Him and not lean on our own understanding, the finish line isn't so far away. Our existence here on earth should be a meaningful one - one that brings God joy. Dr. Sutton joked about that there are "crops" and "crosses" that we bear. "Crops" are stuff that we bring on ourselves and "crosses" are things that are given to us to bear. We need to clean up our closets and let go of the sinful stuff that's keeping us from pleasing God. All in all, "He Will" take care of the rest.
Dr. Sutton closed out the service by singing a few verses from "I Won't Complain".

Take time out to read this passage of scripture, allow God to open your heart and bring forth understanding. Dr. Sutton surely blessed my heart and shown me some things that I need to focus on.

Till next time...

- Sam
